Today (Thursday, October 26. 2023) we launch our weekend of events around Solidarity Shabbat of the Conservative/Masorti movement with unwavering solidarity with our family and friends in Israel. Thank you all for your support of this initiative and for the robust representation and projects. Our movement organizations offer distinct ways our communities can show support and stand with one another. We stand with Israel and with all the victims of this terrible attack and ongoing war, unified in the face of hatred.
This Shabbat, as we gather as a Conservative/Masorti community for #SolidarityShabbat to offer our prayers, our support and to come together as community, we will pause and remember the victims in Pittsburgh, on this fifth yahrtzeit of the greatest act of violent antisemitism in the United States, at the shooting at Tree of Life-Or L’Simcha Congregation. Our hearts hold our collective love of all of our Jewish family during these trying times, as we shed tears against all acts of violence and hatred, in Israel, the United States, and wherever Jews are attacked.
Spread the word of our Conservative/Masorti Solidarity Shabbat with your broad network. Let’s be sure the world hears our voices, sees us come together, in unwavering support for our communities in Israel and in a call to release all the hostages:
As we gather across the globe for our Conservative/Masorti Solidarity Shabbat of Parashat Lekh Lekha, there are many different participation opportunities, sponsored by our vast network of organizations. Come in person, join together online, or DIY at home, as we study, bake, sing, advocate and pray this #SolidarityShabbat.
Our website holds a repository of resources from across our Conservative/Masorti movement, from Sermon Sparks, to Halakha Study Sheets, to inspiration Tefilla, Prayers and Self Care guides and even Spotify channels. There are advocacy links to help us speak up and speak out. Please continue to check back as these resources are updated regularly.
In addition you’ll find resources on the RA Website and USCJ Website. Please feel free to share other resources from other organizations and parts of the world.
Thank you to each and every one of you for being part of this initiative. Thank you to your incredible teams and partners who have supported this work and allowed us to all join in different and important ways as community.
May we all find comfort in being together and draw strength from our community this Solidarity Shabbat and beyond.
